Paul urges Timothy to stir up the gift of God and reminds him of power, love and self-control. The gift is to be exercised within a life of faithfulness, not admired as evidence of potential.
Formation can develop capacity that remains unused because we are afraid to begin. We study, pray and prepare, but never allow what we have learnt to serve someone. Paul directs Timothy toward active responsibility rather than endless postponement.
Exercising a gift does not mean doing everything at once. Love asks whom the work serves; self-control asks what can be sustained. Today, choose a modest practice that uses what you have been developing. Let feedback and continued learning accompany the work. Capacity becomes service when it is offered with care.
