Matthew 25:20–23 · Matthew 25:23 (WEB)

“

He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

The faithful servants in Matthew 25 are entrusted with further responsibility and invited into their master's joy. The passage places responsibility and relationship together. Receiving more is not simply receiving a larger audience for oneself.

Increase can bring new demands on attention, organisation and accountability. More clients, greater income or leadership of more people may expose habits that a smaller setting could absorb. Gratitude for an opportunity should include an honest assessment of what it requires.

Before accepting more, ask what must become clearer or stronger. You may need a budget, a boundary, help from another person or a reliable process. Receiving responsibility humbly includes admitting limits. Today, prepare to care well rather than simply hoping to appear capable.

More is not merely reward; it is responsibility.

What new responsibility would an increase bring, beyond the part I find exciting?

Which boundary, process or support needs strengthening before I accept it?

Take a moment to answer honestly.

Lord, give me wisdom wherever responsibility grows. Keep excitement from hiding the care that people and resources require. Help me assess my limits honestly, seek support and build faithful habits. Let any increase deepen accountability and gratitude rather than feed the need to appear important. Amen.

Describe one area where responsibility may increase. List its practical demands and one change that would help you carry it sustainably.
